Fields: Federated Search Sources
Federated Search Sources lets you manage the federated search sources on your system. A federated search source defines the connection information to a specific federated search source host. You can add new search sources, or edit or delete existing search sources. You can also set up search targets for each search source. Search targets are individual databases that are part of a specific federated search source (or host).
Federated Configuration > Federated Search Sources
The Federated Search Sources also let you add Reserve sources that provide searching of Symphony ILS Academic Reserve items.
You can sort the Search Source List by clicking the column heading of the information by which you want to sort. For example, click the “Search Type” column to sort the list by search source type. When you click the column heading the first time, the software sorts the information in the list in ascending order by the column heading. If you click the column heading a second time, the software sorts information in the list in descending order by the column heading. When you click a column heading, the software displays a sort arrow to the right of the column name that indicates whether the data is being sorted in ascending () or descending () order.
Search Source List
Displays a list of the existing federated search sources on the system.
The list displays this information:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Description |
Displays a text description (up to 80 characters) of the search source. |
Name |
Displays the name (up to 80 characters) of the search source. |
Search Type |
Displays the type of the search source. Portfolio currently supports Z39.50, Reserve, EDS, and CloudSource search types. |
Connection |
Indicates whether the federated search source has established a connection to the host. A green check mark indicates that the connection has been established. A red “X” indicates that the source cannot complete the connection to the host. Note: If a Reserve source is not connecting, check to make sure it is connecting to a Symphony Web Service that is version 3.3 or newer. Note: Due to their unique setup, CloudSource search sources do not display either a green check mark or a red "X" in this column, but remain blank. CloudSource host connections are managed on the BLUEcloud Connections page. For more information, see Managing BLUEcloud Connections. |
